Lesterdale buy and recycle a portfolio of grade 2 nonwovens, then convert them to create fabrics perfect for an alternative application, at a value price.
We source second quality materials from a global network of textile producers and recycle them to deliver an extensive range of grade 2 products. But truth be told, once we’ve re-processed and converted them, you’d never know they had any imperfections in the first place. Well, until you look at the price.
What are Grade 2 nonwovens and what are they used in?
Not all applications require a fabric with a specific weight, thickness, strength or permeability to be effective. In fact there is a whole host of applications that don’t require a technical specification at all. However, many nonwovens are manufactured to a strict criteria and if a product fails to conform to the full criteria, it cannot be sold and becomes grade 2 quality. That’s where Lesterdale provide a solution. We buy waste material with a minor non-conformance, re-process it and convert it to a finished product for a range of alternative applications including:
- Embroidery Backings
- Pet Bedding
- Wadding & stuffing
- First Fabrics
Lesterdale add particular value in the processing and conversion of grade 2 fabrics because we source and buy recycled material for a particular purpose or application, then re-process it to meet the requirements of an alternative application. This works in contrast to the manufacturers who can only sell the grade 2 material they produce and often these mass producers don’t have the versatility to convert grade 2 for an alternative applications.
Lesterdale can source grade 2 fabrics with a diverse range of properties and manipulate those properties to meet the specific requirements of the application. We currently produce Grade 2 products that are:
• Soft & conformable
• Water resistant
• Abrasive or smooth
• Heavy or lightweight
• Tear and puncture resistant
• Wash & dry clean friendly
